Auburn University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System Join Field to Market

February 24, 2015

AUBURN, AL – Auburn University and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System have joined Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture as a new member. Auburn collaborates with many partners to help people and communities improve their quality of life and economic well-being by providing educational opportunities and information grounded in research-based science.

Through these efforts, Auburn is helping to promote farm profitability, environmental soundness, and food security through the nationally and internationally recognized precision agriculture efforts, which has a statewide impact of about $15,000,000 annually. Auburn professors and research engineers are working at the center of this emerging agricultural field, linking precision farming, which provides producers with a clearer, more comprehensive picture of all facets of farming, such as soil science, seed rates, fertilizer optimization or weed and pest control.

“Our academic partners are fundamental to the development and refinement of Field to Market’s science-based metrics and approach, and we are honored to have Auburn and the Alabama Cooperative Extension system join our team. Auburn’s expertise in understanding how precision agriculture can deliver sustainability outcomes will add great value to the discussions and we are really looking forward to working with Auburn in engaging more producers in advancing a more sustainable future in agriculture,” said Rod Snyder, president of Field to Market.
