Field to Market Welcomes New Chair, Congratulates New Board Members

Effective January 1, Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture welcomed five members to its board of directors and installed officers for the next two years. The board consists of 14 individuals representing the five membership sectors of Field to Market.

Stefani Millie Grant, senior manager of external affairs and sustainability for Unilever, was elected chair. Grant is responsible for managing Unilever’s sustainable agriculture programs in the U.S. and Canada, along with engaging elected officials and NGOs on Unilever’s sustainability efforts.

“We look forward to working under Stefani’s leadership over the next two years,” said Rod Snyder, president of Field to Market. “Her industry experience and insight will help Field to Market continue to position our Supply Chain Sustainability Program as the trusted standard for sustainability measurement for commodity crop production in the U.S.”

Franklin Holley, manager of agricultural commodities at World Wildlife Fund, was elected vice chair. Bob Young, chief economist at American Farm Bureau Federation, retained his office of treasurer. Keith Newhouse, director, business development at Winfield Solutions, LLC, a Land O’Lakes, Inc. company, was elected secretary.

Field to Market members also elected five directors to serve three-year terms. Joining the 2016 board are:

  • Keith Newhouse, director of business development, Winfield Solutions, LLC;
  • Debbie Reed, executive director, Coalition on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases;
  • David Schemm, treasurer, National Association of Wheat Growers;
  • Jennifer Shaw, head of sustainable solutions, Syngenta; and
  • Jun Zhu, co-director, Center for Agricultural and Rural Sustainability, University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture.

Shaw and Newhouse have previously served on Field to Market’s board, while Reed, Schemm, and Zhu are serving their first terms. Field to Market’s board is comprised of three elected members from each of the agribusiness; beverage, food and retail; conservation; and grower sectors and two elected members from the affiliate sector comprised of government and academia. Each board member serves for a term of three years.

Marty Muenzmaier, sustainability director at Cargill, was also elected to a one-year term to fill a board vacancy. With the addition of these newly elected board members, Field to Market extends its gratitude to the directors who have completed their term of office: Suzy Friedman, Environmental Defense Fund; Marty Matlock, University of Arkansas; Josiah McLellan, United Soybean Board; and Steve Peterson, General Mills.
