Field to Market Executive Search Process

October 14, 2021

This November, Field to Market will celebrate its fifteenth anniversary, marking a decade and a half of progress in convening the full food and agriculture value chain to transform our industry’s most pressing challenges into opportunities for unparalleled collective action.

In just the last two years, the Alliance and our world has faced unparalleled systems shocks, from a global pandemic and severe climate impacts to historic social and political upheaval. In the face of these challenges, our membership’s collective focus on climate and sustainability has grown to an all-time high, and we continue to be humbled by the commitment and dedication each of our members demonstrate to advancing our shared vision through a spirit of collaboration.

Last week, Rod Snyder shared that he accepted a political appointment to EPA as Agriculture Advisor to Administrator Michael Regan. As the first president of Field to Market, Rod’s legacy in shaping the organization and U.S. agriculture’s sustainability efforts cannot be overstated. Over the last seven years, Rod built a foundation of trust and dedication among diverse stakeholders while bolstering the industry’s commitment to continuous improvement in environmental outcomes.

Leadership Transition

As we wish him well in his new role, this foundation of trust and pre-competitive collaboration forged collectively with our membership remains solid and positions Field to Market for even greater heights. We are privileged to have one of the most talented teams at the nexus of agriculture and sustainability who are well poised to lead Field to Market through a successful transition. The Executive Committee has developed a leadership transition strategy with the full support and approval of Field to Market’s Board of Directors.

Betsy Hickman and Allison Thomson will serve as acting co-leaders of the Alliance in the interim, building upon their roles as central members of Field to Market’s management team, with administrative and operations support from Jamie Richards. Together, Betsy and Allison possess more than 30 years of combined experience as well as a wealth of institutional knowledge that stems from scaling the Alliance’s science-based leadership and cultivating and strengthening our network of engaged sustainability champions.

Executive Search Process

The Board remains dedicated to shaping a bright future for Field to Market and creating value for all members as we chart the next steps. Today, we are pleased to announce the commencement of the executive search process to identify the next leader of Field to Market. To guide this search, we are collaborating with the Keystone Policy Center, with the recruitment process led by current Board Member and longtime friend of the Alliance, Sarah Alexander.

Share the enclosed position with qualified candidates, repost the LinkedIn job listing, and refer qualified applicants directly to Sarah at ftmpresident@keystone.org.

We look forward to sharing our upcoming plans for this next chapter in Field to Market’s journey as we gather together with our membership in November, offering a detailed look at the new three-year strategy that will lead us towards even greater impact.
